They publish a resolution that ratifies Julio Velarde as head of the BCRP

The Congress of the republic made official the ratification of Julio Velarde as president of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), through the publication, today in the newspaper El Peruano, of Legislative Resolution 003-2021-2022-CR, which provides for his permanence by majority decision of the Permanent Commission of said power.

The day before, Velarde Flores was reassigned by said working group with 18 votes in favor, 3 against and 6 abstentions. In this way, its continuity in the monetary entity for a period of five years is specified. The banker must now swear before the Judiciary.

As it is recalled, on October 8, the Executive appointed Julio Velarde as president of the BCRP, which had to be ratified by the Permanent Commission. Roxana Barrantes, Germán Alarco and José Távara are the other economists that the government elected as directors of the financial institution.

In this way, the only thing that would be missing is for the Congress of the Republic to appoint the three corresponding directors, who will replace Elmer Cuba, José Chlimper, and Rafael Rey.

However, it should be noted that these three outgoing representatives of Congress will continue to hold office until they are deposed or ratified.
