Digital exchange houses grew by 188% in Peru in the last three years

In the midst of the health crisis and new consumption habits, digital exchange houses in Peru they went from 25 in 2018 to 72, just three years later; according to a report from Rextie. This represents an increase of 188%.

The company’s 2021 Annual Balance also revealed that the participation of Peruvians in buying and selling dollars online increased by approximately 47% more than in 2020.

While the Official Report of the Ecommerce Industry, of the Chamber of Electronic Commerce (Capece), details that in our country 11,800,000 Peruvians are digital buyers and the companies with a presence in the digital channel quadrupled between 2019 and 2021, since they went from 65,800 in 2019 to more than 260,000 in 2020.

Fintech grew in 2021

According to TuCambista, the digitalization of small and medium-sized companies was of vital importance for economic reactivation and job creation during the pandemic. Thus, the new commercial habits have created a space for the exponential growth of the Fintech sector.

The development of this industry has been constant. According to the Equifax risk center and the Emprende UP innovation center, there are currently 171 Fintech companies operating in our country.

41% of the new products and important changes of the financial system companies reported as of August 2021 are related to the development of digital financial services, such as online exchange houses, according to the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP.
