Tax collection in January grew 11.3%

During January 2022, the tax collection reached S/ 12,801 million, representing an increase of 11.3% compared to the same period last year; that is, in the first month of this year, an additional S/ 1,917 million entered the coffers of the Central Government Net (discounting tax refunds), according to the Sunat.

This performance is due to the behavior of the GDP and internal demand, reflected in the results of the collection of the General Sales Tax (IGV) and Corporate Income Tax.

In detail, in Income tax it was possible to collect S/ 5,455 million, which means 15.4% more compared to January 2021. While in the VAT The collection reached S/ 7,856 million, a higher figure of S/ 1,512 million (17.2% in real terms) as of January 2021.

Regarding the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC), the collection was S/ 924 million, which means a drop of 1% due to lower payments of internal and imported ISC, which fell by 1.6% and 0, 1%, respectively.

Finally, In January of this year, the tax refunds made amounted to S/ 2,210 million, 52.5% higher than the same month of 2021.
