The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, sent a message to public opinion to highlight the decision of the majority of parliamentarians, who supported the initiative of the Executive Power on the reduction of electricity rates for families with lower economic resources in the country .
“I salute Congress for approving the bill sent by the Government, which will allow electricity rates to be reduced for the benefit of families with limited economic resources,” the head of state wrote on his Twitter account.
It is necessary to mention that the Executive’s initiative was debated on Tuesday, February 1 in plenary session and received the support of 104 parliamentarians; only 2 abstentions were registered and no congressman voted against.
What was approved by Parliament seeks to incorporate more beneficiaries into the Electricity Social Compensation Fund (FOSE) in order to achieve discounts of up to 16% on electricity bills for Peruvian families. It should be noted that Bill 990 presented by the Government was exempted from the second vote as it had 110 votes in favor.
Given this favorable scenario, Castillo Terrones highlighted the importance of working to benefit citizens. “This joint work is a sign that we can achieve consensus and social justice in favor of the people,” he concluded.
