Alessandra Herrera Jara was sworn in as the new Minister of Energy and Mines and will replace Eduardo González Toro, who took office on October 6, 2021. The swearing-in took place at the Government Palace one day after President Pedro Castillo announced the renewal of the ministerial cabinet, after accepting the resignation of the former prime minister, Mirtha Vásquez.
The new head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines is a lawyer graduated from the University of San Martin de Porres, collegiate in Lima and has experience in community relations, mining, natural resources, citizen participation; and, analysis, management and conflict prevention.
Likewise, he has held management and consultancy positions for Senior Management in the Executive Branch in various sectors: Environment (MINAM); Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI); Interior (MININTER); and, Energy and Mines (MINEM).
