The Minister of Production, Jorge Prado, signed the agreement between Cofide and the Salkantay fund for the first investment of the Capital Fund for Innovative Entrepreneurship (FCEI) for US$ 4 million, whose objective is to develop the local venture capital industry and boost the ecosystem of startups in a stage of growth and consolidation.
“The signing of this agreement represents Produce’s commitment to promote and bet on technology, innovation and the strengthening of the entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said the official.
It should be noted that the FCEI has an initial contribution from the Peruvian State through Produce for S/ 70 million, which will be invested in local and regional funds. Therefore, the signing of the agreement represents the first disbursement and the channeling of resources, through Salkantay, for dynamic and high-impact ventures that are in a growth and consolidation stage.
“The impact of this first investment will be reflected in two very important aspects: on the one hand, it channels these resources towards Peruvian or foreign startups, which innovate in our market, generate employment and reactivate the Peruvian economy, and, on the other hand, it provides support and exposure to the investment fund, attracting foreign capital, said the minister.
Meanwhile, Martín Aspillaga, managing partner of Salkantay, stated that they will finance ventures in high-impact, technology-based sectors that are solving major regional problems, such as Smart Cities (logistics or e-commerce) and the development of platforms, products and services. that favor the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized companies (fintech, edtech or healthtech).
