Produce launches pilot to digitize markets nationwide

The Ministry of Production (Produce) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), carried out the pilot program “I Digital Route for merchants of supply markets”, in order to increase the competitiveness and productivity of supply markets nationwide. The event had the support of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima.

In this way, the web pages “Tucasero” were created, for internet sales, and “Coompremos” to put together orders at competitive prices. The pilot was carried out with the collaboration of merchants from the Apromec markets, located in Ate, and Mariscal Ramón Castilla (Former Central Market), located in Cercado de Lima.

“The results of this first intervention are very promising. We are focusing on the markets because 7 out of 10 Peruvians make their regular purchases in these places, ”said Produce head, José Rogger Incio.

Soon, in 15 supply centers nationwide, the Digital Transformation Route for Market Managers will be launched, as part of Produce’s drive to increase the competitiveness and productivity of microentrepreneurs through technology.

Minister Rogger emphasized that his administration will have a commitment to the inclusive productive development of the country with which it seeks to generate opportunities for the most vulnerable.

The event was held with the presence of Patricia Talavera, manager of Economic Development of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima; Bettina Woll, UNDP resident representative in Peru and Felipe Cortázar, director of Strategic Alliances at IEduca.
