There are 3,383 international traffic vessels, of different draft, that were mobilized through the commercial and oil ports of the country, both public and private, during 2021, according to the Undersecretary of Ports and Maritime and River Transport.
The port of Guayaquil, through public and private terminals, received 1,764 vessels, the port of Manta served 461 ships, 396 ships arrived at Puerto Bolívar thanks to the entry of new international shipping companies and Esmeraldas, 66 ships.
While at the Petroleum Superintendencies of Balao (Esmeraldas), La Libertad (Santa Elena) and El Salitral (Guayaquil), through which the national hydrocarbon is mobilized, 696 international traffic tankers arrived.
Regarding the movement of containerized cargo, the Ecuadorian ports reflected a slight increase in imports and exports, which went from 2,294,681 TEUs in 2020 to 2,370,031 TEUs in 2021, which represents a growth of 3.28%. . While in metric tons (MT) it grew by 8%, going from 52,743,426 mt to 57,029,484 mt.

In El Oro, copper concentrate was exported from Puerto Bolívar to China. This mineral is the second product with the highest transfer through this terminal, after bananas. In 2021, shipments increased by 222%.
In Manabí, the cargo mobilized in the international terminal of the Port of Manta, in terms of imports, exports and transshipment, had an increase of 30%, with 1,081,966 million MT, with vehicle imports obtaining the highest growth with 59% and 68,490 mobilized units.
And the Manta fishing and cabotage terminal served 4,876 vessels, including industrial and artisanal. (I)
