Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa have closed 2021 with a collection higher than that of the last two years. In this way, the Basque estates have added a total of 15,962 million euros, 14.4% more than in 2020 and an increase of 3.1% compared to 2019.
All the Basque Provincial Councils have closed 2021 with a collection higher than the pre-pandemic period: the Treasury of Alava raised 2,486.9 million euros, that of Bizkaia 8,136.1 million euros and that of Gipuzkoa 5,340 million euros. In this way, all of them have not only improved the data for 2020, a year marked by the economic slowdown resulting from the pandemic, but also have exceeded what was collected in 2019.

Faced with this general increase, the general deputy of Álava, Ramiro González, has highlighted that it is positive news, “which instills hope by verifying the capacities and strengths of our economic fabric”
For its part, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, although it affirms that it is the highest collection obtained to date in the territory, “and that it reflects the beginning of the recovery of economic activity”, has highlighted that it is also influenced by other factors that must taken into account, since they are income obtained in an extraordinary manner, “distorting the comparison with previous years”.
