The head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Roberto Sánchez, stated this morning that the Government has been evaluating the possibility of providing economic support to artisanal fishermen affected by the oil spill that occurred on January 15 in the Window coast.
“In one or two days, food baskets will be delivered to all those involved. And in a second tranche we will also necessarily evaluate a bonus because it is necessary to palliate this daily economy of thousands of families”, he declared to the press.
For his part, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Francke, commented that he had briefly talked with the head of the Mincetur about the delivery of a bond, however, he stressed that this “is a possibility” that must be evaluated.
The fishermen and the directly affected sectors of coastal cities may have an effect on their income, since the contamination has been great, he pointed out.
“I believe that the State must give a response to these families that have been reduced in their economic capacity and I believe that one possibility is to deliver some type of bonus,” he mentioned at a press conference.
