The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) asked Congress to prioritize the ratification of ILO Convention 190 against workplace violence and harassment on the agenda of the next plenary session.
In this sense, they recalled that on September 9, 2020, the MTPE, through Official Letter 0589-2020-MTPE/1, forwarded the opinion with feasibility to the submission process of Convention 190, in order to continue with the pertinent actions. aimed at its ratification.
And for this, the legal opinions of the Ministry of Women, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and the General Directorate of Treaties of the Foreign Ministry were compiled, finally being sent to Congress.
Later, this measure was approved on December 13, 2021 in the Foreign Relations Commission and labeled as Legislative Resolution Project No. 249-2021-PE. Since then it has been pending on the agenda for the Plenary.
Through a statement, they point out that it is necessary and urgently demanded by different union groups, since workplace sexual harassment is a form of violence that affects human rights and equal opportunities for workers.
