The Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Víctor Maita, announced from Cusco that he has requested that the subsidy of the reimbursement scheme to mitigate the impacts of the rise in fertilizers also be extended to producers with less than two hectares.
In this sense, Maita pointed out that his office has sent the proposal to the Ministry of Economy and Finance in order to help small farmers meet the costs derived from the increase in inputs.
“This is a proposal and we hope to make it a reality in the coming weeks, as well as to advance in the registration of the producers of this benefit, which we do through the Regional Directorates of Agriculture and the offices of the OPAs of the ministry in the various regions of the country,” he said.
In 2021, the Executive, through Emergency Decree No. 106, assigned a subsidy of between S/ 350 and S/ 1,300 to producers who own two to 10 hectares in order to compensate for the increase in the prices of the fertilizers. This support will require an investment of S/ 250 million and producers must prove the purchase from August 2021.
Additionally, through Emergency Decree No. 108, the Government authorized the Wanuchay bonus of S/ 350 to agricultural producers of less than two hectares who have not received the Yanapay bonus.
