What are the differences between the AFP and ONP?

Every new worker on the payroll must decide between contributing to an AFP or to the ONP. For this, you must know well the advantages and disadvantages of these two pension systems.

In the case of the AFP, your money is safeguarded in your personal account where you yourself build your pension fund over the years. This fund is made up of your contributions and the profitability they have generated.

On the other hand, in the ONP your contributions go to a common fund, which finances the pensions of the current retirees, so to collect it you must reach the retirement age of 65 years and have contributed for 20 years.

On the other hand, in the AFP there is no minimum time for contributions to be made to enjoy a pension. When the worker reaches the legal retirement age, the calculation will be made according to what he has saved in the years of contribution.
