Ishpingo exploitation would start in May, according to Petroecuador manager

The cAmpo Ishpingo, part of block 43 of the ITT, will start producing crude from May this year, informed Ítalo Cedeño, manager of Petroecuador. The ITT is located in the Yasuní National Park area, one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. He explained, however, that Yasuní will be respected, and the best technology will be used to take advantage of the enormous potential of the Ishpingo that is greater than that of Tiputini and Tambococha combined.

Cedeno He explained that the plan is to start exploiting the crude oil in the two platforms A and B and in which it is planned that 20 wells will be drilled.. He commented that the operation of this field will be in charge of Petroecuador, but until the end of the month, offers will be received from the companies that will bid to carry out the drilling work. Additionally, he commented that platforms A and B are outside the buffer zone, while the other five that must be established would already be in said zone.

In each of them it is also planned to drill 20 wells. For Cedeño, the fact that these platforms are in the buffer belt does not prevent exploitation from being carried out, as long as the respective permits are obtained. He ratified that the intangible zone where uncontacted human groups are located will not be affected. This field could obtain around 45,000 barrels per day.

The Government has indicated that His goal is to increase oil production to one million barrels per day, at the end of the Government. However, President Lasso has moderated the figure and has said that it would be achieved in the medium term. In any case, the manager Cedeño spoke today that it will be possible to reach the figure, but taking into account the production of local gas, which they are determined to promote.
