Congress promulgates law that recognizes professional practices as work experience

The Congress of the republic enacted Law No. 31396, which recognizes pre-professional internships and professional internships as work experience, in favor of students and graduates of university and non-university higher education institutions in various public and private institutions.

According to the rule, which was published last Tuesday the 18th in the extraordinary edition of El Peruano, pre-professional internships for a period of no less than three months or until the student acquires graduate status, are recognized as work experience for their performance in public and private activity.

Likewise, professional internships carried out by university and non-university higher education graduates in public or private institutions for a period of up to a maximum of 24 months are recognized as work experience for their performance in public and private activity.

“Private sector entities recognize pre-professional internships and professional internships carried out by students and graduates of university and non-university higher education institutions that are duly accredited and in accordance with the hiring criteria established by these entities as part of the work experience. entities”, states the provision.

Law No. 31396 specifies that graduates of university and non-university higher education who apply for a position in the public sector that requires previous work experience, “are recognized as such for the pre-professional practices and professional practices that they have carried out in the public sector. public or private”.

In the same way, pre-professional internships and continuity as professional internships that are carried out for a period of not less than three months are recognized cumulatively, as work experience for their performance in public and private activity.
