The 23-year-old worker fell last Monday from a height of about five meters in a cooperative company in Ikaztegieta and died a day later as a result of his injuries.

Its about third worker who dies in Euskadi when falling from a height after last December 18 a worker died in Zumaia and on January 10 another employee died in the same way in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Behind a banner with the slogan “No more work accidents. Precariousness is a killer” (No more accidents at work. Killer precariousness), around 60 people have participated in the concentration that has been carried out this Friday in front of the cooperative in which the accident took place.

They have demanded that the Basque Government and employers adopt “decisive measures” aimed at “put the health of workers at the center”.

They have also asked to intensify inspections to make “more exhaustive” control over compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

According to data for the first ten months of 2021 provided by Osalan, a worker dies every 11 days in an occupational accident in the Basque Autonomous Community.
