Arturo Vásquez Benancio is the new director general of the General Directorate of Mining

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) appointed Arturo Belaunde Vasquez Benancio as the new director general of the General Directorate of Mining (DGM).

Through Ministerial Resolution No. 016-2022-MINEM/DM, the Government of President Pedro Castillo appoints Vásquez in this position of trust, which reports hierarchically to the Vice Minister of Mines, Jorge Chávez Cresta, and which was deserted.

The DGM is the line body that authorizes exploration and exploitation activities; grants benefit concessions, mining transport and general work; approves investment programs and corresponding feasibility studies and ensures compliance with tax stability contracts.

To fulfill its substantive functions, the DGM has the organic units of the Mining Management Directorate and the Mining Technical Directorate.

The resolution bears the signature of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Eduardo Gonzáles Toro.
