The Executive has expressed its hope that the labor reform “can go ahead with the greatest possible social and political consensus.” Confebask has transferred its support to the labor reform to Iñigo Urkullu.
The Basque Government (PNV-WHY) has shown his hope that the labour reform, pending validation in the Congress of Deputies after the agreement reached by the Spanish executive, CCOO, UGT and the CEOE Spanish employers, “can move forward with the greatest possible social and political consensus”.
The Autonomous Executive has sent this message after the meeting held this Thursday between the Lehendakari and the Executive Committee of Confebask, in which the Basque employers have transferred their support to the labor reform to Iñigo Urkullu.
In recent days, the validation of this reform in the Congress of Deputies seems to have become complicated, given the objections raised by the PNV, eh Bildu and other usual partners of the Government of Spain to the text agreed by the cabinet of Pedro Sánchez with CCOO, UGT and CEOE.
In any case, and through a statement released after the meeting with Confebask, the Basque Government (PNV-PSE) has shown its hope that the labor reform “can go ahead with the greatest possible social and political consensus.”
At the meeting, both parties confirmed that there are “hopeful prospects” for 2022, although these are not “exempt” from certain uncertainties. For this reason, employers and the Government have agreed that it is necessary to maintain “caution” in the face of factors such as high inflation or “the possible incidence of the coronavirus on a global scale”, as explained by the Executive.
The meeting also noted the “shared concerns” due to the situation of the numerous job registrations and dismissals caused by covid-19, and “the reality of absences due to temporary incapacity for work in the Basque Country” has been analysed.
