The project contemplates a road of 80 kilometers, of which 45 have to be raised from scratch. The work will cost $ 100 million and will take 24 months.
The actions to address the consequences of the regressive erosion of the Coca River, in Napo, were analyzed during the strategic cabinet, in which President Guillermo Lasso and several ministers of State participated. The meeting was held online on January 11.
Through a bulletin, the General Secretariat for Communication of the Presidency reported that with regard to infrastructure, two alternatives were evaluated. The decision that was chosen consists of changing the route to the bank contrary to erosion.
It consists of a road of 80 kilometers, of which 15 are already enabled, on a third-order road, in the direction Quito – Lago Agrio. Another 20 kilometers are also available through a road executed by the Electric Corporation of Ecuador (Celec). There are 45 kilometers to be built from scratch; The work would have an approximate cost of $ 100 million and will take 24 months, with a road that starts from Santa Rosa de Quijos and ends in the town of El Reventador.
The Government lifted the declaration of force majeure of the oil sector
In other issues addressed in the cabinet, it is highlighted that the Ministry of Housing and the National Risk Management Service conducted a needs survey of 59 families from the San Rafael, San Luis and San Carlos communities.
Through the study, it was determined that 17 families are at higher risk, so they will have access to free housing. These people will be relocated to some lots in the “Marcial Oña” urbanization, which were donated by the Municipality of El Chaco, through an agreement signed on December 2, 2021.
Houses will be built on these lands, by means of a prefabrication construction system, through which the beneficiaries will receive the house within a maximum period of 40 days from the date of hiring.
In San Luis they know that when erosion is 50 meters from the houses, evacuation is non-negotiable
With regard to the oil sector, through the Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources, the cabinet highlighted the recovery of crude pumping in 2022, achieved with the restart of pumping activities of the Heavy Crude Oil Pipeline (OCP Ecuador), of the Poliducto Shushufindi – Quito and the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE).
Thanks to the resumption of operations, on Tuesday January there was a 99% recovery in production compared to the volumes registered before the preventive stoppage of the oil pipelines, which were affected by erosion. (I)
