The Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Víctor Maita, announced that as part of the second agrarian reform, his portfolio already has a draft Emergency Decree to reduce the price of fertilizers that seeks to benefit small farmers and guarantee the agricultural season 2021-2022.
“We already have in Midagri the draft Emergency Decree, which we are going to send to the MEF so that the cost of fertilizers can decrease to S / 100 (bag) because, unfortunately, they have increased excessively (the prices of the fertilizers) until reaching S / 220. So, (these measures) are to guarantee food security and this agricultural season, ”he said.
Small farmer tractors
On the other hand, Maita pointed out that as part of the second agrarian reform this year the Government will deliver 150 tractors to promote the development of family farming.
“Last year we began the delivery of agricultural tractors to farmers in Cajamarca, Apurímac and other towns, and this is part of the mechanization of the field and the modernization of agriculture. For this reason, this year we are planning the acquisition of 150 tractors that we are going to carry out with the Agro Rural program ”, he stated.
In this sense, the head of Midagri stressed that one of the five guidelines of the second agrarian reform is the industrialization of agriculture, where the Agriculture sector has agencies and executing units to support small producers, such as the Agroideas program, which finances business plans and thus contribute to the higher profitability of the field.
