SNMPE awaits rectification after appointment of Daniel Salaverry as president of Perupetro

From the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE) They point out that the recent appointment of Daniel Salaverry as president of Perupetro represents a violation of the law on the organization and functions of said institution (Law 26225).

In this sense, the SNMPE hopes that “the corresponding authorities will proceed to rectify the act.”

“It is imperative to have qualified professional cadres who know technically, legally and economically such a specialized industry, especially in institutions such as the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) and Perupetro ”, the group states.

According to the SNMPE, the hydrocarbon sector is going through a severe competitiveness crisis that is reflected in the worrying contraction in the levels of investment and oil production that did not exceed 40 thousand barrels per day at the end of 2021.

They detail that from January to October 2021, investment in the national hydrocarbon industry registered US $ 246.2 million, of which only US $ 2.6 million was allocated to exploratory activity. This means – adds the SNMPE – that resources are not being allocated to expand the hydrocarbon reserves that the country needs for its future growth.
