The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) transferred the sum of S / 7.9 million in favor of Activos Mineros (Amsac) as part of the financing of activities aimed at the remediation of 172 mining environmental liabilities (PAM), distributed in 28 projects in seven regions of the country.
According to the agreement signed between Minem and Amsac, the projects are located in the Alto Huallaga, Alto Marañón, Apurímac, Cabanillas, Crisnejas, Huaura, Locumba, Mantaro, Pativilca, Perené, Rímac and Santa watersheds.
The general manager of Amsac, Antonio Montenegro indicated that with this transfer the necessary field visits will begin to determine exactly the number of PAMs in charge, their legal situation, among other aspects. This will serve as the baseline to develop the work plan for the commission delivered.
“The costs that the remediation of the PAMs commissioned by Minem will finally demand may be newly estimated in the Closure Plan and Technical File Studies, necessary for the execution of the closure works, the same that where appropriate must be approved and, in a timely manner, budgeted and arranged by the sector, ”the official said.
