For example, the chain of gyms NovaGym, which has four branches: three in Guayaquil and one in Machala, launched a promotion of $ 74.99 in free hours for three months with the option of inviting a friend on weekends, among other offers that they expose in their account of Instagram.
Arturo Sarmiento, supervisor of the NovaGym Alborada headquarters, explained that before the pandemic the flow of customers was very high in January, so much so that it was not necessary to launch promotions.

However, he acknowledged that today the number of people who attend the gym, compared to previous years, is reduced by 40%, and they try to manage that flow to meet the capacity allowed by the authorities.
“In 2020 our brand suffered a great loss, since that year we opened our largest headquarters and due to pandemic reasons we had to remain closed for almost eight months, so the economic factor was greatly affected, so much so that today we continue canceling the debts of 2020 ″, said Sarmiento, who has high expectations for this beginning of the year, but also highlighted the biosafety measures that the brand applies at its headquarters.
These include the use of two towels for personal use, presentation of a vaccination card with its complete scheme, dispensers of alcohol and disposable paper for users and the use of a mask at all times within the facilities.
In addition, for each of the group classes a list of users is made to control the capacity, machines are disinfected at the end of each day and signs were applied so that there is adequate distance.
While, Raúl Gamboa, general manager of Gamboa Boxing, assured that at the beginning of each year there is always a significant increase of between 20% and 30% of clients.
This, according to the businessman, is mainly due to three factors: personal New Year’s resolutions, the beginning of the beach season and holidays in educational entities.
However, the brand was not exempt from suffering losses due to the crisis generated by the pandemic. Gamboa asserted that the attendance of clients to the trainings decreased, they closed their headquarters on the road to the coast and postponed the inauguration of a new headquarters in another strategic sector of the city.
Therefore, one of Gamboa’s goals for this year is to keep its operations running with the maximum capacity allowed by the authorities.

Currently, Gamboa Boxing has four branches, in the south, La Joya, Kennedy citadel and La Alborada, in the latter it operates at the NovaGym facilities.
