Minem: mining investment exceeded US $ 4.45 billion between January and November 2021

Mining investment between January and November 2021 accumulated a total of US $ 4,453 million. The amount represents an increase of 21.6% in relation to the same period of 2020, when it registered US $ 3,663 million for the same concept, according to the Mining Statistical Bulletin (Bem) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).

Only in November 2021, investments in mining reached US $ 475 million, representing an increase of 2.4% compared to that reported in October (US $ 464 million) and a year-on-year increase of 23.3%.

In this sense, taking into account the results by subsectors, in the penultimate month of 2021 the item Plant Benefit totaled US $ 136 million, Mining Equipment US $ 71 million, in Exploration executed US $ 31.2 million. As long as Infrastructure Y Development and Preparation, US $ 128 million and US $ 52 million were registered, respectively.

Mining companies with the highest investment

Until November, Anglo American Quellaveco SA (US $ 1,115 million) ranked first with a 25.0% participation in investments, supported by the investment made in its Quellaveco project. In second and third place were Compañía Minera Antamina SA (US $ 400 million) and Southern Peru Copper Corporation (US $ 290 million) with interests of 9.0% and 6.5%, respectively.
