MEF: There is an additional S / 233 million for Moquegua thanks to the payment of mining companies

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Francke, reported that the Moquega region will receive an injection of S / 233 million in its 2022 budget, as a result of the record collection achieved through the collection of debts from mining companies.

“We have had a record tax collection thanks to the great effort of inspection on mining. In Moquegua, of the S / 383 million that had been budgeted, by 2022 they will become S / 616. That is, there is an additional S / 233 million for the region ”, he specified.

During the decentralized Council of Ministers in Moquegua, the minister affirmed that most of these resources will be destined to local governments to carry out the works required by the Moquegua population.

“Those additional S / 233 million are distributed as follows: local and municipal governments, which had a budget of S / 301 million, will now have a budget of S / 482 million. That is, they have an additional S / 180 million. In the case of the Regional Government of Moquegua, a budget of S / 64 million was planned, which will rise to S / 105 million, that is, an additional S / 41 million ”, said Francke Ballvé.

“Public universities increase from 17 to 28 million, always speaking exclusively of canon and royalties, with which they earn an additional 11”, he added.

Likewise, the head of the MEF assured that the various political actors in the region agree on a new tax scheme for mining activity, in addition to coordinated work with other sectors, such as agriculture and infrastructure development.

“We have collected from the regional and local governors the need for the contribution of mining to be greater in the tax part, a part in which we have been insisting since the beginning of the Government. Also the possibility of an articulation of a territorial development of mining, agriculture and other works projects for taxes (OXI) ”, he declared.
