The Consumer Protection Commission N ° 3 (CC3) of Indecopi voted by majority to vary the precautionary measures that stopped the distribution and sale of Bimbo’s Marbled Bimbolete and Bell’s Panettone.
It is worth noting that the decision to remove them from circulation was made because these products had allegedly exceeded the limit of allowed trans fat content.
However, from now on, manufacturers must prove to the CC3 that their products do not contain trans fats or, if they do, do not exceed the limits allowed by the Ministry of Health.
Indecopi details that the decision taken “in no way means a setback or rectification”, since the disciplinary administrative procedures initiated against Panificadora Bimbo del Perú Sociedad Anónima, Orindale Properties Perú SAC and Supermercados Peruanos SA are pending and will subsequently determine responsibility or not from the provider.
