The regional governor of Cusco, Jean Paul Benavente, stated that it is necessary to rethink the gas massification projects that you have in the south of the country, because the others are trapped. He pointed out that for this purpose this October 28, a national forum on Camisea will be held in the imperial city with the presence of experts and representatives of the international consortiums that exploit the gas resource, local authorities and specialists from the national Executive.
The authority recognized that as projects such as the Integrated Gas Transportation System (formerly the Southern Peruvian Gas Pipeline) or Seven Regions projectIt is necessary to propose other alternatives so that the resource can be massified, otherwise the LPG will continue with high costs.
For example, Benavente indicated that the private company can be commissioned to build a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in Kepashiato (La Convencion) and from other smaller plants to start with home connections. He said that a clear example is the stations of the Natural Gas Vehicle (CNG) that already work in Cusco.
Likewise, the governor said that it will be very important that the representatives of the Camisea Consortium and the Camisea Gas Transporter are present in the forum, since the first of them is the owner of the raw material, while the second of the pipelines, who in their opinion have to provide facilities for the massification projects to go ahead and be profitable.
