A total of 16 municipalities of Metropolitan Lima and Callao will grant new facilities for the payment of property tax and excise duties for the year 2021, reported the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).
Due to the state of health and economic emergency that affects taxpayers and at the same time to improve tax collection, the municipalities -through various ordinances and mayoral decrees- offered discounts for payment of property tax and excise taxes for the year 2021 and years previous.
“These benefits will be granted as long as the debts are paid within the term set by each municipality, most of which will expire at the end of January 2022,” said the manager of the CCL Legal Center, Víctor Zavala.
The municipalities that will provide these tax facilities are San Juan de Lurigancho, San Miguel, Pueblo Libre, San Borja, Barranco, Lurín, Magdalena del Mar, Chorrillos, Surquillo, Jesús María, Bellavista, San Isidro, Surco, Villa El Salvador, Pachacamac and San Juan de Miraflores.
The CCL specified that the extension for the payment of taxes for the year 2021, the reduction of fines and late interest, as well as the expiration dates varies according to the provisions of each municipality.
It is worth mentioning that after the established deadlines have expired, taxpayers must pay the fines and interest together with the property tax and the excise duties they owe, which in certain municipalities not only correspond to the year 2021, but also to previous years.
