The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) published the daily readjustment index for the month of January referred to article 240 of the General Law of the Financial System and the Insurance System and Organic Law of the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP.
Through Circular No. 0001-2022-BCRP, published in the legal regulations of El Peruano, it was indicated that the index is also applicable for debt readjustment agreements that authorizes the article 1235ยบ of the civil code.

It should be noted that the daily readjustment index is prepared by the BCRP subject to the Consumer Price Index for Metropolitan Lima that, for the preceding month, has been determined by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics.
Likewise, the standard emphasizes that the present index it should not be used to “calculate interest, whatever its kind” or determine the value on the day of payment of the benefits to be restored by mandate of the law or judicial resolution (Article 1236 of the Civil Code, in its current text enshrined by Law No. 26598).
