The producers of the Organic Agricultural Production Association of Pasaje (Asopaop), San Miguel de Brasil, Asoguabo, Fincas de El Oro and others showed their support for the plan against Fusarium race 4, presenting on November 26.
This support was also joined by the La Guayas Agricultural Association, the Production and Life Agricultural Production Association, the Oro Verde Cooperative, Asoproabacao, Tierra Fértil, Asoprobadi, the El Checo Banana Workers Association and representatives of small producers.
“We are grateful to you, Mr. President (Guillermo Lasso), and to the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (Pedro Álava) for launching the plan against Fusarium race 4. We hope that the execution of the plan will be effective, as well as the process to build the products carried out as a national emergency ”, says the statement.
In addition, it mentions the participation of the trainings carried out by the State portfolio on the Fusarium race 4.
Government allocated $ 400 million for a plan against Fusarium race 4, for the next 5 years
Last November, President Guillermo Lasso presented the strategic plan for the prevention, detection and control of the plague Fusarium race 4 (FOC R4T).
This has a budget of $ 400 million for the next five years. This was revealed by the Ecuadorian Banana and Banana Cluster through a press release.
With the plan, it is foreseen, in case the plague -which has already been detected in Colombia and Peru- arrives in the country, the activation of the 1800 AGRO-00 telephone line, the Agro-mobile applications and the single line of the ECU911, between other measures.
According to the Banana Cluster, the economic losses that the presence of this plague would have in Ecuador is estimated at $ 26 million per week.
