Exchange rate: dollar price closes down and stands at S / 3.9600

The price of the dollar closed down and stood at S / 3.9600 in the exchange session on Monday, January 3, 2022. The greenback started the day at S / 3.9950, as reported by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

Thus, the currency fell by 0.77% compared to the close of last Friday, December 31, when it stood at S / 3.9910. On the other hand, the purchase in the parallel market was located at S / 3.95 and the sale at S / 4.00. As for the price of the bank dollar, the purchase is quoted at S / 3,933 and the sale at S / 4.05, according to the Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP).

During the session, the issuing entity went on the market to sell US $ 160 million at an average exchange rate of S / 3.9970 per dollar to mitigate the volatility of the currency. Likewise, Interest Rate Swaps were placed for a term of 3 months for S / 50 million at an average rate of 2.96%.

This occurs after the Chinese corporation MMG, owner of The Bambas, will announce on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange the total restart of its operations in the copper deposit for this Monday, January 3. The mining company’s decision comes after the communities surrounding the mining corridor unblocked the road after a dialogue table led by Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez, last Thursday, December 30, 2021.
