The company Petroleos del Peru – Petroperú SA confirmed the placement of a metal clamp to ensure containment of the oil leak at kilometer 373.2 of the Norperuano Pipeline (ONP), where on December 31, 2021 an intentional cut was detected.
The state oil company stressed that this attack, organized by “unscrupulous people”, powerfully affects the infrastructure of this critical asset at the national level, in addition to seriously endangering the environment and the integrity of the native communities of our Amazon.
“The placement of this containment instrument was carried out last night after dialoguing with the inhabitants of the area, achieving an adequate understanding for the benefit of the communities and the environment. Petroperú will immediately carry out the remediation work in the impacted area, in accordance with its contingency plans, ”he said in a statement.
Petroperú representatives indicated that, as part of the investigations to determine those responsible for this attack on the North Peruvian Pipeline, the Prosecutor’s Office has carried out an inspection visit.
Likewise, it is important to specify that the oil company has informed the supervisory authorities in a timely manner about the findings in the field and has made the police report for the investigations of the case.
