Midagri started a national registry of agricultural cooperatives to create a database

The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation(Midagri) started the register of agricultural cooperatives in the country. The objective of this initiative is create a single decentralized national database that allows to properly identify and know the agricultural cooperatives, community cooperatives and central agricultural cooperatives, as reported by Midagri.

“The existence of a registry will contribute to providing the best services to its producer partners, what products they offer and commercialize in the national and international market and implement a permanent system of truthful, viable, timely and automated data verification,” added the Ministry in a press release.

The registration is made before the General Directorate of Associations, Financial Services and Insurance of Midagri and the registration of more than 500 agricultural cooperatives (comprising 130 thousand cooperative members), community cooperatives and cooperative centers is expected. The entities have a period of 60 days to present their request at the table of parties of the ministry.

The first cooperative registered in the Midagri registry

In this sense, the “Cooperativa Agraria Norandino Ltda.” Involved in the productive chains of coffee, cocoa and panela, it is the first agrarian cooperative registered in the National Registry of Agrarian Cooperatives (RNCA).

It is a cooperative with a user modality and is located in Piura and provides services to 4,274 members, of which 3,500 members are men, 762 women and 12 legal persons. Norandino is a thriving cooperative that is chaired by Wilfredo García Córdova, being registered in the Piura Registry Office with Registration Number N ° 11060598 and RUC 20525416543.
