During 2021, more than 29,450 new electricity supplies were installed in Peru thanks to the completion of 17 rural electrification works that were managed by the General Directorate of Rural Electrification (Adger) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), thus benefiting 125,500 residents of rural areas in various regions of the country.
Are works concentrated a investment global of S / 219 million 562 thousand 797 in nine regions of the country, such as Amazonas, Puno, Huancavelica, Cajamarca, Huánuco, Junín, Apurímac, San Martín, La Libertad; and they favored with continuous and reliable electricity a total of 29,454 homes located in 889 low-income localities.
The Minem explained that rural electrification projects have a direct impact on improving the quality of life of the population, as well as boosting their productive activities and the industrialization of areas far from the country, allowing its development.
The following works stand out in the relationship: Expansion of rural electrification in the district of Chalhuahuacho, Cotabambas province, Apurímac region, benefiting 8,048 residents, with an investment of S / 12 million 400 thousand; and the Rural electrical system New Seasme III stage, in the Amazon region, which benefits more than 7,583 inhabitants and required an investment of S / 18 million 900 thousand.
With these projects, the Minem contributes to the objective of achieving a rural electricity coverage of 96% by 2023 and that, in 2026, universal access to electricity in rural areas of the country is achieved, which constitutes one of the Objectives of Sustainable Development (ODS) assumed by Peru.
