INEI: Accumulated inflation of Metropolitan Lima closed at 6.43% in 2021

In December 2021, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Metropolitan Lima experienced an increase of 0.78%, with this figure accumulated inflation in the capital closed the year at 6.43%, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Computer Science (INEI).

The monthly result is the third highest of the year after August and March, when they registered 0.98% and 0.84%, respectively.

The result of the year that ended is mainly based on the rise in prices reported in the large consumption groups: Food and Beverages (7.97%), due to the increase in prices of fats and oils, poultry meat, sugar, fish, tubers and roots and bread and cereals; Rental of Housing, Fuels and Electricity (13.27%), due to the rise in domestic gas, natural gas through the network, water rates and domestic electricity; and Transport and Communications (7.75%) due to the rise in the price of fuels and lubricants, air transport and land transport.

To a lesser extent, the prices of Furniture, Household Fixtures and Maintenance (2.98%), Recreation, Entertainment, Cultural Services and Teaching (2.88%), Health Care and Conservation (2.22%) rose ), Other Goods and Services (2.12%) and Clothing and Footwear (0.46%).

Meanwhile, national inflation closed 2021 with a rise of 0.74%, and the variation between January and December was 6.99%.

The months of 2021 with the highest inflation growth were August and July with 1.06% and 1.04%, respectively.

During 2020

In the month of December 2020, the Consumer Price Index nationwide increased by 0.03%. Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Index of Metropolitan Lima rose 0.05%.

The behavior showed a cumulative variation of 2.15% for the national indicator and 1.97% for that of Metropolitan Lima.
