This second year of the pandemic was not an obstacle for thousands of youths in all the Peru complete their university studies. One of the main objectives that have been set to start 2022 is to get their first job or change to one in which they feel greater fulfillment and satisfaction (if you were already a practitioner).

It should also be borne in mind that not all companies stop their functions at the end of the year, but, on the contrary, they are very active looking for trained personnel to fill new jobs.

In this sense, the Career Development Center (CDC) of the University of Piura offers some advice that will strengthen your profile as a graduate and make you a more employable professional.

• Know the market: that is to say, Investigate which companies make up the sector of your interest.
• Actively participates in volunteering or non-academic activities: These can be from the university life or different organizations. Likewise, the experience obtained adds value to the professional profile and is highly appreciated by recruiters because they reflect proactivity and commitment.
• Look for constant training in digital and soft skills: They are available in multiple virtual educational platforms that can help in the development of this aspect. Among the most required soft skills are assertive communication, teamwork, innovation, analytical thinking, leadership and adaptability. Obviously, digital skills are also an attraction and among them stand out Power Bi, Excel, SQL, SAP, Python, design programs, among others, according to the profession.

• Strengthen your personal brand on LinkedIn: update your profile information and share valuable content, in order to be more visible to recruiters and start building a solid network of contacts, based on trust.
• Strengthen your level of English: seeks to obtain international certifications, such as Cambridge, for example. Currently, a large number of specializations and master’s or doctorate programs require that their students have a good level of this language. This is where the importance of learning to write, read and speak in English lies, and how fundamental it is to empower it.
• Boost your network of contacts: it is considered that, when looking for internships or employment, the most effective channel is the network of contacts; ie friends, teachers and family. Today, these represent around 50% of effective chances of getting pre-professional internships or first job.
