Petroperú will commercialize LPG in Callao and Pisco until October 31, 2022

The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin) agreed to extend the temporary measure in favor of the company Petróleos del Perú (Petroperú) that allows it to carry out commercialization activities of GLP from the supply plants located in Callao and Pisco.

In this way, Petroperú is authorized to commercialize LPG until October 31, 2022 in the plants of Zeta Gas Andino SA located in the Constitutional Province of Callao and of Pluspetrol Peru Corporation SA located in Pisco.

This expansion is at the request of Petroperú, since the Talara Refinery is still inoperative and for the start-up of the New Talara Refinery 90 MB of GLP is required in 3 deliveries of 30 MB, which would be received on January 1, February 15 and March 15, 2022.

Furthermore, “the start-up would begin progressively on April 15, 2022, so it is estimated that the stabilization of the new units will be achieved 6 months after the initial start-up date,” states the resolution of the Osinergmin board of directors.

Therefore, as part of the demand for GLP Not served by the Talara Refinery migrates to the Lima market, it is served at the Callao Supply Plant, but the latter is overwhelmed by unsatisfied demand in the north of the country.

In this sense, it is necessary to satisfy such demand through the Supply Plant of GLP operated by the companies Zeta Gas Andino in Callao and Pluspetrol in Pisco.
