New Jorge Chávez: Ositrán would sanction Lap if there is third extension, but everything depends on MTC

According to Ositrán, if the airport is not operational on March 30 and there is no addendum from the MTC, they will start running fines and daily penalties.

The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Infrastructure of public use transport (Ositrán) warned that Lima Airport Partners (LAP) will sanction the new Jorge Chávez International Airport is not completely operational as of March 30, as planned.

“If this new terminal does not come into operation on March 30, they would be breaching the concession contract that they say they have to deliver it operational, not only in infrastructure and equipment, but operating,” said the head of the Verónica Zambrano body.

It is worth clarifying that if on that date it is not fulfilled and there is no addendum or act by the granting (Ministry of Transport and Communications), “they immediately begin to run fines and daily penalties.”

“We as Ositrán sanction or put the penalties as the deadline is come and it is not fulfilled. If that period is extended, we cannot sanction, but if the deadline is expired and there is no extension, we sanction,” said Zambrano.

Ositrán announced that the March 15 will make one Technical evaluation of the progress of the project, which will determine if LAP can comply with the delivery on the agreed date.

“We cannot make projections because we are technicians. What is missing are evidence of integration of systems, infrastructure and equipment. The operation must ensure that everything works 100%, ”he said.

Through a statement, Ositrán showed the advance of New terminal Jorge Chávez to a 99.4%. The completion of essential systems is pending, including:
