Cajamarca Carnival will leave income for S/70 million to the region, estimates MINCETUR

Festivity that goes until March 5 will attract 75,000 visitors, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) estimated that the Cajamarca Carnivalwhich began on Saturday 1 and goes until Wednesday, March 5, will attract approximately 75,000 national and foreign visitors this year, a flow greater than 70,420 tourists registered last year.

With this, according to the Mincetur, a economic impact close to S/70 million, amount greater than what has been reached in the previous year (S/62.3 million).

This feast will not only benefit the local economy, but also to various sectors, including lodging, gastronomythe transport of passengers, the preparation of costumes and the crafts, promoting an integral development in the region.

It is estimated that about 94% of visitors who arrive at this celebration will be national, mainly Lima, La Libertad and Lambayequewhile the remaining 6% will be international tourists, according to data from the General Directorate of Research and Studies on Tourism and Handicrafts of the Vice Ministry of Tourism.

Cajamarca Carnival: Hotel occupation

The projection of the hotel occupancy during the central dates of the Carnival shows a peak of 95%, compared to the 36% registered in January 2025. This demand also responds to the accommodation prices, with 54% of the lodges that would raise their rates up to 50%.

Beyond promoting tourism development, Carnival gives tourists the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural wealth of Cajamarcaenriching their experience with activities that celebrate local traditions.
