Ica and Arequipa, the regions that led exports with more than S/51,000 million: its main shipments

At the end of 2024, exports from the interior regions of the Peru They reached a new record of US $ 62,927 million (more than S/235,000 million) and a growth of 15.5% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

In detail, Ica and Arequipa were the main regional exporters, by contributing each with 9% of the total and reaching both an accumulated of more than S/51,000 million.

In ICA, foreign sales totaled US $ 6,823 million (more than S/25,000 million), driven by the increase in mineral sales such as zinc (US $ 297 million), iron (US $ 1,787) and gold (US $ 116 million), and agricultural assets such as cocoa butter (US $ 217 million), avocado (US $ 293 million), tangerine (US $ 170 million) and blueberry (US $ 253 million).

In Arequipa, the export totaled US $ 6,684 million (more than S/25,000 million), mainly due to the increase in gold sales (US $ 1,911 million). They also highlighted the greatest shipments of copper (3,576 million), lead (US $ 107 million) and concentrates of silver (US $ 76 million).

Ancash and Libertad regions also had an important performance, representing 8.4% and 7.7% of the total, respectively. “The agro -export sector was a key engine in the growth of 2024, with 24% increases in the interior regions and 22% in the national total,” said the Mincetur.

The sales of the three natural regions of the country had exceptional results: the coast (+16%), the mountains (+19%) and the jungle (+63%).

The fastest growing products were blueberries and avocados on the coast; the avocado and the quinoa in the mountains; and cocoa, coffee and chestnut in the jungle.

In the field of non -traditional goods, Piura stands out as the main exporter with 13.5% of the total, followed by ICA with 13.3%. As for mining, Arequipa and Puno They were the main mineral exporters in the country (12.9% and 11.4% of the total respectively), followed by Áncash (11%) and Moquegua (9.3%).

The growth in the north of the country was promoted by La Libertad (US $ 5,743 million) and Lambayeque (US $ 922 million), thanks to the increase in the sale of gold in the first, and blueberry in both.

On the other hand, all the regions of the East (Loreto, San Martín, Ucayali, Amazonas and Madre de Dios) reported outstanding results thanks to the high prices of cocoa and coffee, as well as the increase in oil supply.

Exports: Main output points

El Puerto del Callao It remains the main output point for Peruvian exports, by concentrating 35.5% of the total value, followed by the Lima Airport (19.2%) and the Port of Matarani (12.9%). On the other hand, the Chancay Megapuerto, who initiated operations at the end of November 2024, registered Exports close to US $ 100 million.

According to the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), to date it has mobilized more than US $ 292 million in income and exit of merchandise by the Maritime Terminal of Chancay.
