The attacks and shots of the Norperuano pipeline infrastructure are a story of never ending. This time, Petroperú reported that on February 8 there was a new criminal act at kilometer 376 of section II of the pipeline, near the community of Numpatkain, located in Santa María de Nieva, province of Condorcanqui (Amazonas).

Oefa supervised spill in Norperuano pipeline
Petroperú reported this vandalism to the corresponding entities, such as the OSINERGMIN and the Environmental Evaluation and Control Agency (OEFA). Precisely, this entity carried out supervision actions before the spill of crude oil occurred on February 8.
These tasks will allow to determine the cause of the environmental emergency, as well as the attribution of responsibilities and the evaluation of the impact caused. Between January 2023 and March 2024 at least 11 attacks were reported in section II of the Norperuano pipeline. Given this recurring situation, Petroperú invoked the competent authorities to strengthen the security of the ONP, considered national critical active, with the aim of ensuring the proper development of hydrocarbon transport operations.
