Walter Obando is appointed as the new Deputy Minister of Family Agriculture Development

The Executive Power today appointed Walter Obando Licera in the position of Vice Minister of Development of Family Agriculture and Agrarian Infrastructure of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).

Obando will replace José Alberto Muro Ventura, who resigned after a month at the helm of the vice ministry, since he took office on November 26.

Through two supreme resolutions published today in the newspaper El Peruano, the resignation of Muro Ventura and the appointment of Obando Licera as Vice Minister of Development of Family Agriculture and Agrarian Infrastructure and Irrigation, a position considered trustworthy, was made official.

Walter Obando is an agricultural engineer, graduated from the Pedro Ruiz Gallo National University, with a Master’s degree in Water Resources and Agricultural Economics at the Graduate School of the La Molina National Agrarian University.

He has taught, from 2006 to 2011, at the National University of Engineering, the Pedro Ruiz Gallo National University, the ESAN University, and the Continental University (Huancayo).

In 2018, he assumed the leadership of the National Water Authority (ANA), where he participated in more than 220 projects in water resources, developed in the coast, mountains and jungle of Peru, as well as in Bolivia, El Salvador, Belize, Mexico and Colombia.

He was also the general director of Hydraulic Infrastructure at the former National Development Institute (INADE) and a senior specialist in Surface and Underground Hydrology at the company Tecnología y Proyectos SA (TYPSA – Spain).
