Piura, Lambayeque and Áncash are the regions most affected by the overproduction of mango in 2025: they represent 95% of the crops

The agricultural sector in northern Peru faces a serious crisis caused by the Mango overproduction. Thus, producers from several regions of the interior of the country have reported that the price of the kilo has collapsed up to S/0.20, which negatively impacts their income and complicates the sale of the fruit in the national market.

The director of one hundred in the Association of Exporters (ADEX), Edgar Vásquez, said in an RPP interview that the regions most affected by mango overproduction are Piura, Lambayeque and Áncashbecause they concentrate 95% of the lands where this fruit is harvested.

Vásquez said that not only the great agro -exporters and small farmers are harmed due to excess supply, but also the Logistics transport companies. In particular, the ADEX manager stressed that around 70% of mango production is destined for export, while 30% is sold in the Peruvian market.

Why did an excess of mango offer in the Peruvian market originate in 2025?

Edgar Vásquez explained that the mango crops of the three departments agreed due to climatic factors that come from 2024. He indicated that the Piuran Mango production normally leaves between November and December; that of Lambayeque, in January and February; and that of Áncash, in March and April.
