BCP: Users reported that agencies suspended customer service after reports of system failures

The Credit Bank of Peru (BCP) had suspended its Customer service in some of its branches on July 30. Several branches of one of the country’s main banks were not operating due to a possible system failure.

On the other hand, both the Yape application and the ATMs are already working as usual. Some users reported problems with the digital wallet, while others can use it without any problems.

Yape spoke out about the system failure

The app is experiencing some glitches, we are working to fix it as soon as possible,” reads its stories on social media. In addition, if you try to access the digital wallet, the following message will appear: “Yape is under maintenance. We are working to provide you with a better experience.”

BCP collapse: what operations were suspended?

Users had reported through social media that they experienced difficulties accessing the Yape application, making payments and transfersas well as to check their accounts in the BCP app and withdraw money from ATMs.

It is important to remember that Yape suffered a complete crash on June 29, exactly one month before this incident. In addition, in April of this year, the digital wallet also experienced failures shortly before the end of the month.

This is the third failure of these BCP services in 2024. At the beginning of the year, a system maintenance which left these services inoperative, although in this case it was not a crash.
