Around 4 million Quechua speakers will be able to withdraw money quickly and easily from the more than 2,300 ATMs that the financial institution has throughout the country.
In order to promote financial inclusion in the country, Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP) launched the Quechua language option for cash withdrawal operations at its ATMs nationwide, thus becoming the first financial institution to enable the Quechua language for withdrawals through this service channel.
“We are very proud to become the first bank to have Quechua in this important service channel and, above all, for this important banking operation, which represents 85% of the operations carried out in our ATMs monthly,” said Sara Rodríguez, manager of the Alternative Channels area of BCP.
The Quechua language will be enabled on the first screen of the ATMs and, then, once the withdrawal operation has been chosen, users will find a button at the bottom right with the phrase “Runasimiman tikrachiy”, which means “Translate to Quechua” and which they must activate to change the language.
This measure will allow the nearly 4 million Quechua speakers in Peru to withdraw money easily and quickly from more than 2,300 ATMs throughout the country.if required. For the past three years, it has offered the option of changing the language to Quechua on its website and promotes its financial education series also in Quechua.
By the end of the year, BCP aims to have this option enabled for deposit operations, cell phone updates and password changes to continue contributing to the autonomy of all citizens, without language being a barrier.
