The National Superintendency of Labor Inspection (Sunafil) reported that inspections in rural areas reached 234,000 workers, including 185,000 in agricultural companies and 49,000 in the civil construction sector.
In this sense, the Special Itinerant Labor Inspection Team audited and provided technical assistance to nearly 2,000 agricultural and civil construction companies.
“This work was carried out by the Special Itinerant Inspection Team of Sunafil, which visited 605 agricultural production companies and 594 civil construction companies to provide technical assistance, as well as monitor that employers comply with the labor rights of their workers” , specified the body attached to the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE).
During the visits, the Sunafil inspectors were in charge of supervising that the workers are on the payroll, in addition to explaining what the agrarian and civil construction regimes consist of, as the case may be.
Occupational health and safety was also audited to prevent fatal accidents at work. This implied that the companies have implemented the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, that they have trained and informed the workers in the correct use of the machinery they use. The delivery of Personal Protective Equipment, work uniform, as well as the implementation of the dining rooms and the good condition of the hygienic services were supervised.
Within the work they carried out, compliance with the Plan for the surveillance, prevention and control of COVID-19 was also monitored with the aim that no infections were registered among workers. The inspectors supervised temperature control, delivery of masks to workers, provision of water for hand washing, among others.
As a result of technical assistance and inspection, 24,481 agricultural workers were registered on the payroll, as well as 3,915 civil construction workers; that is, a total of 28,396 workers.
Sunafil: civil construction paralyzed
In the case of civil construction, a total of 34 works have been paralyzed this year. The low figure corresponds to the correction of non-compliance within a period of two to three days, according to the evaluation and indication of the inspectors.
In this way, the company was not harmed, but neither were the workers, since operations were only resumed when the risks were overcome.
