“This significant measure not only provides them with more resources to cover their basic needs such as food and medicine, but also recognises and values their contribution to our society,” said the head of state.
The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, announced an increase of S/100 in the bi-monthly pensions of the National Solidarity Assistance Program – Pension 65, which will go from S/250 to S/350 in the future.
As part of her message to the nation, the head of state said that this increase for older adults over 65 years of age who lack basic conditions for their maintenance is part of the “firm commitment of the government to ensure that each older adult, at this stage of their life, lives with dignity and social protection.”
“I want to announce that, after more than 12 years, we have decided to increase by an additional S/100 the bi-monthly economic subsidy that our senior citizens receive from the Pension 65 Program of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis),” said the president.
Currently, Pensión 65 serves 824,351 beneficiaries. During 2024, there was an increase of more than 200,000 users: Cajamarca is the region that leads the list, with 91,025.
“We went from S/250 to S/350, benefiting more than 824,000 senior citizens. This significant measure not only provides them with more resources to cover their basic needs such as food and medicine, but also recognizes and values their contribution to our society.”
Boluarte also reported that, as part of the restructuring process of the Qali Warma Program, 600 educational institutions will be refurbished to condition kitchens and other environments that will allow them to provide an adequate school food service with an investment of close to S/60 million.
The aim is to enable children to receive their meals hot at school to contribute to better academic performance. Along the same lines, the “promotion of the inclusion of local products from family farming with cultural relevance” will continue.
