Following the positive results of the first anchovy fishing season, it is hoped that this behavior will be repeated through new policies that will improve the value chain.
In order to strengthen the fishing sector, the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, announced the approval of a national fishing policy for 2025 that will boost the competitiveness of the entire value chain in the maritime and continental areas.
It is worth noting that the first anchovy fishing season reached a volume of 2 million 430 thousand metric tons, with a contribution of S/432 million to the GDP and a contribution to exports of US$1.3 billion, which translated into the generation of 50 thousand direct and indirect jobs. Along these lines, the outlook for the rest of the year is promising, with projections representing an additional growth of 18.5%.
Thus, a good second fishing season is expected that will contribute to the economic recovery of the country. By July 2025, it is projected that 2 million families will benefit from the placement of hydrobiological products and canned fish.as a result of the fairs held nationwide where fish and preserves will be promoted at low prices.
After more than 30 years, the Peruvian State will invest S/190 million in the construction of a modern scientific research vessel that will guarantee the sustainable use of anchovy and the main fisheries intended for direct human consumption by Peruvian families, such as squid, bonito, parrotfish, hake, horse mackerel and mackerel. The construction of this vessel will be carried out by SIMA and will be completed in the first half of 2026.
