Exports of cotton shirts for men grew about 30% until October

The export of cotton knitted shirts for men, between January and October 2021, totaled US $ 37 million 300,000. The figure represents an increase of 29.9% in relation to the same period last year when it reached US $ 28 million 700,000, according to the Global Business and Economy Research Center of the Association of Exporters (CIEN-ADEX).

The average FOB price of 100% cotton garments it was US $ 12.26 per unit. Meanwhile, the highest value was registered in France when it reached US $ 19.74 in June; in contrast, the lowest price was recorded in Brazil with US $ 7.59 per unit in January.

For its part, the average FOB price of cotton and polyester knit shirts it stood at US $ 13.21 per unit, and reached a maximum level of US $ 23.90 in Brazil in February and a minimum level of US $ 7.89 per unit in that same country.

According to CIEN-ADEX, the company Textil del Valle SA led the shipments with US $ 12 million 600 thousand (33.1% of the total), Hilandería de Algodón Peruano SA (21.3%) and Industrias Nettalco SA (17%). ), ranked second and third, respectively.

Between 2016 and 2020, the export of cotton knitted shirts for men grew at an annual average of 7.7%.

Last year, the world market for men’s shirts moved around US $ 4 million 100,000, which is equivalent to a contraction of -23.9% compared to 2019.

However, in this period, Peru ranked 13th among the main global suppliers of these garments and the main one in Latin America. Globally, Bangladesh (18%), China (8.2%) and India (8.1%) led.
