More than 960,000 transactions in markets through digital wallets nationwide were carried out until the end of November 2021. The amount of transfers exceeded S / 49 million, according to the latest report on Digital Payments and Financial Inclusion in municipalities prepared by the Association of Banks of Peru (Asbanc).
Thus, most of the operations were carried out in Lima and amounted to about S / 33 million, while in the provinces it was approximately S / 17 million.
In detail, in Metropolitan Lima the districts with the highest penetration of digital wallets in commercial positions were: San Miguel with 57% affiliation, Jesús María (53%), Barranco (37%), San Borja (36%), La Molina ( 26%) and Santa Anita (21%).
With respect to other regions of the country, Piura registered the highest affiliation ratio during the year (19%) with 2,800 positions, followed by Callao (15%) with 3,400, Arequipa (11%) with 1,500, Trujillo (10%) with 1,900 and Cajamarca (7%) with 1,300 affiliated establishments.
The businesses that have added the most to the use of digital or electronic wallets are grocery stores, cell phone accessories, bank agents, butchers, spice shops, bookstores, cleaning products stores, as well as fruit stalls, chicken or vegetables.
